Wild is the Wind

I sit here as the end to a perfect day approaches and am so grateful for beauty in the form of song. I love the interpretive nuances of Amel Larrieux, sharing her gift on her album of covers. "Wild is the Wind" is definitely my favorite, I could listen to it over and over until I drift off into a peaceful dream. Isn't it amazing the power that music has on our moods and emotions? It has the power to transport us to another place and time that we'd rather be in that moment. Like when I hear Tweet's "Smoking Cigarettes" I think about late nights in Chicago, fallin' hard for someone I shouldn't have. Or when "Just For Me" by the Reverend Al Green comes on, I am taken back to the weekend that I had the house to myself, drinking the remains of a cheap bottle of white wine that I used earlier that day for my first attempt at mushroom risotto. I replayed that song over and over as I drove my mother's red volkswagen around Lake Calhoun with the sun roof open, feelin rich and free. Music will always be a lover I will never grow tired of--it's magnetism is constant and ever present in my life. What a gift we have been given to hear such beautiful melodies, weaving in and out of a perfect puzzle piece of instruments. I believe that God gave us the desire to know music in a personal way to compliment our connection to Him. How lovely a blessing that I am so happy to have been given.
